Chocolate Granola Recipe

This incredibly easy recipe makes the most delicious chocolate granola. Perfect with yoghurt and fresh fruit or simply to snack on straight out of the jar!

This granola recipe is deliciously easy to make and the best part is how adaptable it is. You can add protein powder or probiotics, and mix up your nuts, seeds and add ins to create your perfect breakfast combination. You simply need one mixing bowl, a baking tray and something to store your yummy granola in!

This recipe makes one large batch of granola. This typically lasts me around two weeks (depending on how much I snack on!). I like to store my cereal in glass food containers in a dark, cool cupboard. Granola is a great breakfast option, with plenty of fibre, healthy fats, added protein (if you'd like) and a little sweetness to start your day.

Makes one large batch

Ingredients;

3 cups oats

1/2 cup mixed seeds

1/2 cup nuts (whichever you would like)

2 tbs cacao powder

1/2 tsp vanilla, cinnamon or whatever extra flavour you would like

1/2 cup melted coconut oil

1/3 cup maple syrup

3-4 tbs vegan protein powder and/or probiotic fibre powder

Any extra chocolate chips or dried fruit

You will also need; a mixing bowl, baking tray, baking paper, spoon

How to make your granola;

  1. Pre heat the oven to 180°c and line your baking tray with baking paper

  2. In your mixing bowl, add your oats, mixed seeds, nuts (if using), cacao powder, any flavours or spices and give the dry ingredients a quick mix through

  3. Add the melted coconut oil and maple syrup and mix thoroughly until all the dry ingredients are evenly covered

  4. The mixture may look a little wet but don't worry, the moisture is what will help make the oaty clusters of the granola

  5. Spread evenly onto the lined baking tray and bake for around 15-20 minutes until golden

  6. Leave to slightly cool on the baking tray

  7. Once the granola is handleable, break any large pieces into smaller clusters, then add any extra protein powder, probiotic powder, chocolate chips or dried fruit

  8. Mix the extra add ins evenly through the baked granola and leave everything to completely cool

  9. Once cool, transfer into a food storage container and enjoy for breakfast!

Tips & Tricks!

  • I used Food Thought cacao powder but you could use regular cocoa powder instead

  • I added Biomel Complete Gut Chocolate powder which helps add extra fibre, vitamins and live cultures to your diet. You could add vegan protein powder instead if you like or just keep your granola plain

  • I added a packet of Whitworth's Feel Energised mix. This is a yummy mixture of chocolate chips, dried fruit and nuts. Feel free to add a handful of whatever add ins you'd like!

  • Make sure to wait until after your granola base is baked before adding in extra goodies. If not your chocolate chips will be a melty mess and your dried fruit will be really chewy!
